It’s the Brisbane City Council that regulates rules about pets, including dogs. If you are new to the area, you have 14 days to register your dog. Local animal shelters and the Council accept the applications and registration fees. What about Guide Dogs?

Pet owners who rely on his or her dog as a service animal must register the animal, but will not have to pay a fee. Service or guide dogs need to be identified with handler ID cards. The Animal Management Act (2008) exempts chipped and registered dogs used by government officials.

Wearing Registration Tags

After registration, the dog must wear the provided identification tag constantly.  However, if your pet loses his or her tag, it can be replaced for free.
